This car is an absolute fucking disappointment. Seems more like that they are addicted to money they are looking for from wealthy people. "OH SHIT! A P—oh nevermind, it's just a 650S." It's sad. Just further convinces me that McLaren's strapped for cash so they went and made a box of 'parts bin'.

it isn't supposed to be a new model, it's supposed to compete with the 458 speciale. I've read it like a hundred times. it's just a confusing name change

If you had any idea how much it cost to bring a new car to market... But yeah, I basically think it's a better looking mp4-xr4ti-1000a

The 650 makes the other models look worse. There should only be a midrange model if it is going to also be unique. I think it was a nice balance to have the 12C and the P1. This is just bad and I am disappointed about how it looks.

This is all just very dumb and they should have simply made an improved 12C with more horsepower then.

When I saw either R&T or C&D's post on Facetube I thought "Oh cool Mclaren updated the MP4-12C" then come to find out it is the supposed P15 and utter disappointment set in. Though I shouldn't be surprised that it looks like the 12C and P1, I was surprised by just how lackluster it actually is.

It's not very advanced or well-developed because, almost certainly, they're spending more money on the next big-follow-up to the 12C that will utilize some of the P1's technology. This is just a stopgap, in my opinion.

I cant say I agree with you. I think Aston Martin is the biggest offender of what you are describing. As for McLaren, given how new the company is and their products are, I can't imagine they have built up the war chest needed to design, engineer, and homologate an entirely new platform/vehicle. Esp given the development costs of their new P1.

How is this any different than Aston Martin

Aston Martin is a huge offender, but so are the German manufacturers. However neither manufacturers make cars that are on a level of what McLaren makes.

They did. That's the 12C MSO concept, which might still see the light of day though the 12C was already faster than the 458. The 650S, formerly known as the P15, is more comparable to an Aventador or the F12 Berlinetta.

The P15 and P13 are supposed to be entirely different vehicles. The 650S is like a 12C special-edition from the factory, somewhat akin to an SV model from Lamborghini or an AMG from Mercedes, roughly, in that the styling has been modified, power is bumped, but it's mostly the same car underneath.
